Last year’s last rose

The last bud from the garden last year

pen and ink with watercolor wash

recording the opening over several days

Full bloom

Beginning to fade

After the petals fall we need to rest

Yesterday I was bereft of purpose

Today I am ready to seek myself again

Birdhouses

For the birds

What to do when you are snowed in.  Paint bird feeders and bird houses.

I couldn’t resist buying these unpainted houses at Michael’s on Wednesday, against everyones advise that I did not need them and would not ever get around to painting them.  ” But they are on sale”,  I retorted.

Between cooking and baking and drying out jackets and gloves I have painted my little houses in bright colors and raided the odd broken jewery bag for things to glue on them.  Now I have an idea to attach a branch across a painting of outbuildings at Belmont and hang some of these houses in front of them.  This is my lesson for anyone wanting to tap into that creative side we all have. Just do it and have fun.  Take advantage of any opportunity that suspends the everyday hurry of the have- to’s and shoulds .

Early Anniversary Card

I'm so happy

I inserted the bride paintnig into the border I painted last year and me thinks this makes an anniversary card.  But maybe it should read “I was happy that day and I’m just as happy today”?

Blushing Bride

Primping at The Middleton Inn

Feburary and wedding plans are underway with many,  I was asked to do a painting for a guide book .  Pondering the subject I remembered this picture of April preparing for her big day.
